Meet the Member Clara Anderson

by Rodeo News

by Ruth Nicolaus

Clara Anderson is in her first year of junior high rodeo competition, and she loves it.
As a goat tyer, breakaway roper, pole bender, barrel racer and team roper (heading for Jessi Vigoren) in the Utah Junior High School Rodeo Association, she loves the new friends she’s made, the competition, and the travel.
The resident of Leeds, Utah, is an eighth grade student at Desert Hills Middle School. Her favorite class is U.S. history, and if she could meet one person from American history, it would be President Abraham Lincoln. She likes to read, especially historical fiction, and lately, she’s enjoyed reading Three Dark Crowns.
Clara plays the piano and the cello and is part of her school’s Engineering Club. She is on the honor roll, and when she grows up, she’d like to be an architect. She’s getting some practice now, drawing house and barn plans. Her dad is a builder, and she helps him after school and in the summers, cleaning up job sites, carrying tools in and out, and other odd jobs.
The family has a pet Corgi, a one year old puppy named Ruby. Clara has taught Ruby to do some tricks. Ruby loves to chew on cardboard, shoes, and socks, and has ruined several shoes. They also have a lab named Biscuit, a cat named Swiper, and a bunny, Bo.
She has an older sister, Macy, who is seventeen and in high school rodeo, and an older brother, Austin, who is a student at the University of Utah. She is the daughter of Chad and Margaret Anderson.
