Chloe Marshall is a talented cowgirl.
The Burwell, Neb. resident can sew, quilt, bake, make jelly, show livestock, play volleyball and basketball, and rodeo.
But of all her ventures, rodeo is her favorite.
The Nebraska Junior High School Rodeo Association member competes in the breakaway roping, goat tying, and barrels, and of her three events, breakaway is her favorite.
For the breakaway, she rides a 22 year old paint mare named Grace. For the goats, she rides an eight year old blue roan named Buster. Her barrel horse Shiner is injured right now, so for the barrels, she’s riding Grace.
The eighth grade student at Burwell Public School is involved in a variety of activities. She plays volleyball and basketball and runs track, is a member of FFA, and has been on the honor roll all of her junior high school years. She loves to play piano and has taken lessons for the last five years.
She sews and quilts with her grandma Joyce Huffman, and has made two quilts. The first one was from a kit, and after its completion, she donated it to a needy family in another country. The second one is a log cabin pattern, made of blue and brown material, and during the winter, it’s on her bed.
Chloe is a member of 4-H, where she shows pigs and horses. This year for the fair she made sand cherry jelly (from sand cherries picked on the ranch), arm knitted a scarf, painted a clock, and decorated ornamental letters.
She also bakes cookies and cakes, sometimes from scratch, for the family.
Chloe enjoys reading good books, and prefers mysteries and exciting stories. Her latest favorite is the book series entitled “The Series of Unfortunate Events.”
When she grows up, she’d like to be a chiropractor.
She has an older brother, Trent, who is fifteen and competes in high school rodeo, and a younger brother, Cody, who is eight.
She is the daughter of Kyle and Kristin Marshall.
