CJRA -Get Ready To Rodeo!!!
CJRA is excited to go into our 23rd year of hosting youth rodeo’s around the great state of Colorado. It is from the support of our former members from the beginning (with many bringing in the 2nd generation) to our current members and our dedicated sponsors that CJRA can continue to provide quality rodeo experiences for families across the Rocky Mountain States and youth ages 5 – 18.
CJRA began the Spring Challenge Series last year to help their members get prepared for the summer rodeo season and give non-members the opportunity to compete and experience the CJRA. The series was received with great enthusiasm both members and non-members – of which many of them then joined. Seeing the success and realizing the potential of what the series could bring to the association, the board decided to allow the series rodeos and monies won count toward eligibility for the year-end finals for 2017.
“We have welcomed several new members and our Spring Challenge Series has been a huge success,” said CJRA President Danielle Wollert. “We are excited about the potential this offers to not only current members but interested youth wanting to get a start in rodeo.”
Due to the event of the spring storm Colorado experienced the end of April, the last of the Spring Challenge Series rodeo in Ordway rodeo was canceled and will be rescheduled at a later date. The series champions will be awarded buckles at the conclusion of that rodeo series. Information of the rescheduled date will be on our website (coloradojrrodeo.com), our FB page and here in the Rodeo News.
The CJRA summer season will begin with the rodeo in Yuma – May 20-21, followed by Sterling – June 3-4, Burlington – June 10-11 and Henderson – July 1-2. We are looking forward to yet another great finals in Lamar on July 27 – 30 with the top 15 contestants from each division competing for the year end titles in addition to monies won, awards and scholarships.
